Tactile signs are extremely important to public buildings, in particular museums, conference venues, and public service buildings such as libraries.
They are also vital to the signage systems within schools, colleges and universities.
They should be used on all entrance and exit signage, directional signage and identification signage. They should be easily accessible to everyone, being no lower the 1400mm to the floor, and no higher than 1700mm from the the floor.
The identification signage should be both on the door and the wall, as this helps the visually impaired person to still know the room or area, regardless of whether a door has been left open or not.
